6 on Sussex Trail

Took a half day and ran with Gene on the Sussex Trail. He planned a 6 mile tempo run that was 'supposed' to be 7:10 to 7:20. We finished around 41:25 or 6:54 pace. Hard 30 second pick ups at 1,2,4 and 6. I can't remember the IPA we drank afterward (oh yeah - it was Sleeman, but it was good. You can't see the illustration in this picture. Gene's working on a guy being chased by a racoon. To be incorporated into our site soon.

Great day for running and yes, this is the same guy that was running with a full beard a few posts before.

Harrier takes hardware at Hillsdale 5k

5ks are too short and tricky. I got suckered into chasing the young ones early on and blazed a 6:05 first mile. It was supposed to be 6:30. Legs were okay, but was I winded. I held in there for 2d in the males 30-39 division with a 20:56 finish - This could have been better, however I followed the guy in front of me past a sharp right turn. This added about 20 to 30 yards. The superintendent of schools handed out the medals.

Colon Cancer Challenge 3/11/07

Gene ran lights out after being reminded of former glory. We both looked on at the 4 mile start.
I was very pleased with a 7:11 pace for the 15K.

Slipping and sliding on Sussex

Last Sunday Fuzzi Muzzi took us on the Sussex Trail. We completed 12 miles on snow and ice, well, mostly ice and mud. We would normally clock around 8 minutes per mile on these long runs. The average was around 9. This is Muzzi prior to a near face plant. Otherwise a beautiful day. By the way, Shakey Jakes doesn't open until 4pm on Sundays. Beer of the week is Yeunling.

Welcome

This is the official blog space for the North Jersey Highlands Harriers - a running club with no membership fee or commitment beyond getting out once in a while to run together. No clics, no gossip, no kidding - just friends encouraging each other to run. Perhaps we will run a little farther, a little faster, but as long as we run we have fun.

There are currently only three amigos in the group and we haven't all run together yet! If you are interested in running with others in the areas of Denville, Rockaway, Parsippany, Hopatcong, and parts of Sussex County, drop us a line.

Fargoguy.
