Once again we set out from the heart of the northern New Jersey Highlands region at 5:15 a.m. This was Dave's first trip to Coney Island. Thankful for a tiny cheap car, we found a somewhat legal parking space about 2 blocks from the start - and it was there when we eventually got back from the medical tent (more on that later). The weather was perfect 41 degrees, sunny. A slight headwind heading up Ocean Parkway was the only real inconvenience (except the medical tent - more on that later). The pace was somewhat faster than Dave's intended time, but it felt comfortable and the Harriers were always within 100 to 200 meters the entire race. Up until mile 9 in the park, the pace was an even 7:15 per mile. Gene pulled up with a hopefully minor pain in the right calf. Dave continued and hit a PR. Gene held on to improve this year's half best time.
results: Dave finished in 1:33:47 (447th out of 4,900 runners), dropping a full 6 minutes since the Bronx. Gene eeked out a 1:37:39 and 661st place, under terrific pain. Ice. Ice. Ice at the medical tent. (picture ommitted)

Scotland Run 10K results
It was 45 degrees, little wind, a few drops of rain, and some pain after our 4 mile "cool down/death march" Gene and I both ran well.
Gene - 200th place in 40:58 (6:36 pace) [48:10/7:46 at Kleinerman 10k]
Dave - 360th place in 42:53 (6:55 pace) [45:27/7:19 at Kleinerman]
so we're showing signs of improvement. More tempo runs for me!
