Today the Highlands Hashers took on the 1st Annual Super-Hero Half-Marathon in Morris Township. Upon arriving the only person up to the task was Brian, with John and Gene looking and feeling pretty tired after fighting a cold for the past few days, Dave couldn't even make the trip today because he was to sick to move. After parking about 4 miles from the start, We picked up our registration ( Brian fought with the registration people for 10 minutes trying to pick-up Daves T-Shirt, I guess they lost Dave's registration somewhere, but Brian prevailed ! So Dave we have your T-Shirt! ) The pre-race warm-up consisted of a 4 mile walk back to the car, some aspirin, and some 5 hour energy.
Once the race began, adrenaline took over (or maybe the aspirin) and everyone wound up exceding their expectations, in fact I overheard John and Brian saying they liked the Half-Marathon distance, and it was nice to pick people off in the closing miles ! Everyone had strong finishes including our Highlands Hasher friend Ron Pawlikowski who is fresh off a Boston Marathon finish. Brian and John both established PR's today.
On another Bright Note ... The Highlands Hashers would like to welcome to the fold Joshua , who is now running with us on Thursday nights, and hung around with us for "Gatorade" afterwards at our local watering hole . I am sorry to report though, the most interesting man was stolen during the Cinco De Mayo celebration .
UPCOMING ..... Lets not forget about the Run for Jordan 5K on June 13th in Hopatcong.... Afterwards I'll be hosting a kegger and BBQ for all those that participated... Lastly, on Sunday May 23rd, we will be doing a trail run up in the Allamuchy Mountains (roughly 10 miles)northern area trails. 8AM start. We would love to see a few more on this trail run, so let me know if your coming so we know how much "Gatorade" we will need for after the run, and I can give you details.

Gene,
Lemme know what you need to allow me to post, and not just comment
Half marathon, followed by a full Irish breakfast. A good day, if you ask me.
